Graduate Image Analysis Scientist
Overview:

OracleBio is a Scottish-based, specialised contract research organisation providing digital pathology services to support pre-clinical and clinical Pharmaceutical R&D. The company is looking to expand and strengthen its operations by employing an Image Analysis Scientist to join the team at an exciting time in OracleBio’s evolution.

Based at our offices at Biocity Scotland, the candidate will be expected to carry out computer-based image analysis of histopathology sections to generate high-quality quantitative data for our clients. Working as part of a friendly and efficient team, the Image Analysis Scientist would be expected to demonstrate excellent attention to detail as they combine their biology knowledge with good computing skills.

 

Requirements:

  • Relevant life science degree (i.e. B.Sc, Ph.D.)
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint
  • Experience in pathology/histology/image analysis would be beneficial
  • Previous experience working within a Contract Research Organisation (CRO) would be advantageous

Duties:

  • Digitally scanning histology slides to generate digital images using OracleBio’s slide scanner
  • Performing image analysis using OracleBio’s state-of-the-art image analysis systems
  • Extracting and summarising data using Excel data spreadsheets
  • Graphing data and carrying out statistical analysis
  • Contributing to the generation of high-quality written data reports
  • Ensuring client image analysis study requirements are fully implemented through efficient communication methods including e-mail, teleconferences, online meetings, or face-to-face meetings

Assistant Image Analysis Scientist

OracleBio is a fast-growing, Scotland-based contract research organisation who provides specialist digital pathology services to the Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology sector.

As a company, we are pioneering the use of digital pathology for research and development in crucial areas such as cancer research; utilising cutting-edge technology such as Artificial Intelligence and cloud computing (AWS).

Due to the company’s continued expansion, we are looking to strengthen our operations with the addition of our new Image Analysis Assistant Scientist role.

 

What will the job look like?

You’ll assist Scientists and Senior Scientists in computer-based image analysis of histopathology sections to generate high-quality quantitative data for our clients. You’ll be working as part of a friendly, efficient, and collaborative team, and will be expected to demonstrate excellent attention to detail as you combine your biology knowledge with good computing skills.

 

You should apply if:

  • You have a National Grade 5 in Biology and/or Computer Science (or equivalent)
  • You have experience of histology, immunohistochemistry and/or image analysis. This would be beneficial, but not essential as training will be provided
  • You’re passionate about learning every day and working in a collaborative environment

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Supporting the digital image analysis team to review and annotate images, to provide services using state-of-the-art image analysis computer software
  • Extracting and summarising data using Excel data spreadsheets
  • Graphing data, carrying out statistical analysis, and contributing to the generation of high-quality written data reports.
  • Supporting client image analysis service requirements through efficient communication methods including e-mail, teleconferences, online meetings, or face-to-face meetings.

You’ll carry out detailed analysis and help make recommendations that impact our clients’ businesses.
